I’m a massive fan of the lovely Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley (Hemsley + Hemsley) and of their approach to food; they’re experts at making beautiful food that tastes incredible, fills you up and nourishes you. So I was delighted to see them again yesterday and celebrate Independence Day by enjoying a delicious Hemsley-style meal at Sea Containers. The Hemsleys teamed up with New York chef Seamus Mullen to create an amazing healthy transatlantic menu, made even better by the glorious sunshine and the view of the Thames and St Paul’s. It was a real treat, as the location was great and I rarely have room for a three-course meal! The food was so light and portion sizes were perfect, which allowed me to eat it all. Another thing I noticed was that the food was so nutrient-dense and filling that it kept me feeling satisfied for hours after without needing to snack.
For our starters, Dad and I ordered the Peach, halloumi and watercress salad, whilst Mum had the ginger crab cucumber maki rolls. The portions were just the right size, making sure we had plenty of room left for mains and dessert! I tried both and they were both delicious and beautifully summery.
I love seafood, so Mum and I opted for the grilled shrimp kebabs with courgetti and pesto (again, it did not disappoint), whilst Dad went for the suckling pig with broccoli slaw.
Dessert had to be the avocado lime cheesecake- it’s the one dessert we’ve been meaning to try for ages! Dad went for the peach cobbler with ginger crème fraiche- it was good, but I’m going to have to remain loyal to the avocado lime cheesecake, which was the star of the show. It’s also brilliant to be able to enjoy a dessert that’s refined sugar-free, gluten-free and grain-free whilst out at a restaurant!
A big thank you to the Hemsleys and Seamus Mullen for such a wonderful treat!
