Fare Healthy 2015

Hi everyone!

I was lucky enough to spend my Sunday at Fare Healthy; a festival that took place at Borough Market and celebrated all things healthy; food, fitness and wellbeing. I was helping out at the Hemsley + Hemsley stall, which involved ladling out aromatic bone broth and chatting to everyone who came by. I was also given this beautiful avocado apron designed by the talented Jo at Reflect And Repeat, which was also being sold at the stall along with plenty of totes and tea towels.

I was spoilt for choice when lunch time arrived, but I eventually settled on Nama Foods, a raw vegan café based in Notting Hill which I’ve been desperate to try for ages. I chose the courgetti tossed with tomato sauce, diced black olives, rocket leaves, pine nuts and sprinkled with vegan “parmesan” cheese. Choosing dessert was simple- I’m a raw chocoholic, so the Caramel Shortbread was screaming my name. I also bought a few to take home for my family, so sorry if I caused a stock shortage! It was a slice of heaven; complete with a crunchy base, salted caramel date layer and coated in raw chocolate. It was also entirely healthy. And entirely out of this world. I then wandered off to explore the market and came back armed with a couple of bars of Raw Halo chocolate (yes, more chocolate).

When snack time arrived, what better choice was there than a slice of Jasmine and Melissa’s creamy Avocado and Lime Cheesecake that they made in their demonstration? Don’t miss out, it’s in their book, The Art of Eating Well.

It felt incredible to be surrounded by so many amazing and inspiring people- I met the lovely Annie from Mind Body Bowl, David from Green Kitchen Stories and many more like-minded foodie-fitness lovers. The atmosphere was wonderful and I couldn’t have enjoyed myself more.

I came away with my ‘Boil Your Bones’ bag bulging at the seams, filled with generous goodies including Urban Fruits’ delicious dried strawberries, my apron from Reflect and Repeat, a tub of gorgeous Paradise Bars from the lovely Hemsley sisters (also in their cookbook) and plenty more!

Many thanks to the gorgeous Jasmine and Melissa for having me, to the wonderful Fareys for making it happen and to all the lovely people for making it such a special occasion. I can’t wait for next year!

Lauren x
