Review: Improving my sleep quality with the Lumie Bodyclock

Hi everyone!

Recently I’ve been researching ways of improving the quality of my sleep. I have always been aware of the importance of sleep and I hate feeling sleep-deprived – sleepovers are my worst nightmare!

I know most of the tips about getting a good night’s sleep, such as switching off screens at least 1 hour before lights out. But that doesn’t always mean I actually do it. It’s tempting, after a long day, to watch some TV before bed, and sometimes I give in. More recently, I’ve been trying to get to bed earlier and get off screens earlier. Having looked into ways to improve my sleep quality, instead of using my iPod to wake me up for school in the mornings, I now use a Lumie bodyclock. I should also mention that this is not a sponsored post, it’s an honest review! I love my Lumie bodyclock, and I’m about to explain what makes it so special.

The Lumie bodyclock has been shown to help regulate your sleep and wake cycle and boost your mood and energy. Simply set your alarm, and half an hour before this set time, the Lumie bodyclock starts to give off a soft orange glow that gradually grows brighter, mimicking a sunrise. This is a much gentler and gradual way of waking up, which I much prefer to being suddenly jolted awake by a blaring alarm!

Most of the time, the light wakes me up naturally, but you can use the sound option which ensures that the alarm goes off at the set time, just in case the increasing brightness doesn’t cause you to stir from your slumber. I do set this alarm just in case I have a bad night and oversleep, but normally the ‘sunrise’ process seems to wake me up first so I am able to turn it off before it goes off.

However, the one negative thing that I have to say about this alarm is that, if it does wake you up, it seems very loud and there doesn’t seem to be a way of turning the sound down – it’s either sound or no sound. However, there are more expensive versions which do give you the option of changing the alarm sound as well as its volume.

It definitely does leave you feeling fresher and more ready to get up in the mornings, and I would really recommend it. You can buy your Lumie bodyclock here.

This is a great post Lauren! My Mum uses a Lumie body clock too, I’ve tried it out and I agree that you wake up feeling so much more refreshed and way happier! Quite funny to find someone else who thinks sleepovers are nightmares :D! Love your blog too! x

Thank you! I love waking up to it. Aha yes I’m not the best version of me after a night of sleep deprivation! Thanks very much, that’s so kind of you! X
